In addition to musical performance, students within Mr. Salas’ music classes receive instruction in Music Theory, Music History, and Music Composition. Individual and group projects include the creation of original compositions using age-appropriate software that allows students to engage in structured assignments and “free-form” compositions based on individual student-interests.

At the middle school and high school grades, students also learn about musical scores and arranging as well as the foundations of audio engineering including recording, editing, mixing and mastering digital instruments using MIDI (Musical Instrument Digital Interface) instruments and associated programs culminating in the creation of individual CD’s including works created/recorded during the year.
